Saige Food Forest @ Sahalli Garden
This garden project was started with the idea of using urban gardening to help resource produce, to supplement the food share and community kitchen during the pandemic. With the help of a UBC grant, students and Saige volunteers, the Saige Food Forest was created. It started with clearing the plots, the construction of planter boxes, garden design and planting of seeds. We partner with Sole Food Street Farms, who generously donates plant starts and seeds annually. We use the products from our garden in our meals at our monthly Community Kitchen and also at our food share. We rely on volunteers for watering, weeding and planting.
